Workday Basics:- Navigations

Hi All,

I want to discuss about the basic features of Workday Landing page and Navigations which will help in the later sessions to learn this unified application suite.

Navigations
     Search feature
     Worklets
     Workbench
     Landing pages
     Inbox
     W: Drive
     Links and related actions
Workday Search feature:-
Predictive results: workday search bar gives predictive results based on the keywords you typed. An example can be a Google search bar where it provides search options as you type along the search bar.

Search categories: When you use search bar and search for a keyword, the search results are displayed in a full screen view. There you can see search categories which you can use to narrow down your search results.

Search prefixes: Prefixes are used followed by a semi-colon to search for a specific business data in the system. If you want to see the available prefixes just type in a question mark in the search bar.

Worklets:-
Worklets provide access to groups of related tasks, reports, and links. Each worklet is represented by icons.
You can configure worklets, add or remove them from your home page by clicking on the icon available at home page below the profile photo.

Workbench:-
The Workbench is a navigation wheel designed for technical users, such as administrators and implementers, that provides convenient navigation to worklets, tasks, and reports that you already have permission to access.
      Available worklets include
     Reporting & Analytics
     Business Processes
     Account Administration
     Security and Audit
     Integrations
     Deployment
     Utilities
     Landing Pages:-
Landing pages display Worklets icons for easy access to the data and tasks available in dashboards and Worklets.

Inbox:-
Inbox page displays an actionable, chronological view of your action items and archived items. Access the Inbox through the:
Inbox option on the main menu. The red badge count icon indicates the total number of action items.
Inbox worklet. You can add this to the Home landing page to give users another way to access their Inbox.
Archive tab tracks all process statuses and historical actions.
We can filter or sort items using filter drop down menu, which includes favorite’s, to-do’s  and more.

Dashboards:-

Dashboards are customizable Landing Pages grouped by subject that are only available for managers depending on security.

Profiles and Profile Groups:-
A profile is a composite view of a worker, a job, or a group. Workday delivers numerous profiles including
Ø  Candidate Profile
Ø  Customer
Ø  Job Profile
Ø  Organization
Ø  Worker Profile etc..
Notification’s:-
Access the Notifications page to review items that you need to know about, but that don't require any action, including:
§  Configurable alerts, such as birthdays, anniversaries, time off, and  alerts based on custom alerts.
§  Background notifications, such as scheduled reports, reports ready in your W:Drive or My Reports, or processes for which you choose Notify Me Later
W Drive:-
The Workday drive (W: drive) is a virtual drive where you can store generated reports. There are several scenarios in which report output can be sent to the W: drive:
§  If you schedule a report or If you share a report, the report output is stored on the My Reports tab of your W: drive.
§  Whenever Workday determines that it might not be able to render a page in your browser quickly ,it automatically provides an option to send the results to the W: drive.

in My next post we will see different oranization types in workday.
